MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. -- A Michigan bank is suing NHL veteran Sergei Federov, saying payments have stopped on more than $2 million in loans.
Citizens State Bank filed a lawsuit Monday against Fedorov, a former star with the Detroit Red Wingswho now plays for the Washington Capitals.
The lawsuit, filed in Macomb County Circuit Court, said Fedorov got loans in 2004 and 2005, one for $1.75 million and another for $500,000.
A default notice was sent in May after payments stopped, Citizens State Bank attorney Scott Norton said Tuesday.
The bank is owed at least $2.1 million in interest and principal, according to the lawsuit.
A message seeking comment was left for Fedorov's attorney, Brian O'Keefe of Birmingham, on Tuesday.
Norton said Fedorov offered a Miami condominium as collateral on the larger loan. An 11-year-old horse and an insurance policy are collateral on the smaller loan, according to the lawsuit.
Fedorov played 13 seasons for Detroit from 1990-2003. Columbus traded him to Washington during the 2007-08 season. The lawsuit first was reported by the Macomb Daily.

Two '06 Picks Aim To Make the Caps Roster
Tuesday 07-15-2008 11:35am ET
Quebec Major Junior Hockey League forwards Mathieu Perreault and Francois Bouchard are setting their collective sights on the National Hockey League's Washington Capitals.
Both were drafted by the Capitals in 2006 and each signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the big club this year. Both were present at the team's developmental camp at Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, Va., this summer.
Bouchard, who has spent the past four seasons with Baie-Comeau, was a second-round pick (No. 35) and Perreault, who recently completed his third season with Acadie-Bathhurst, was selected in the sixth round, No. 177 overall.
Perreault won the Jean Beliveau Trophy as the league's top point-producer with 114 points (34 goals) last season, finishing 22 points ahead of Bouchard, who claimed the eighth spot with 92 points (36 goals).
Gordon, 24, had seven goals and nine assists in 67 games last season. He also won 55.8 percent of his faceoffs, the second-best percentage on the team and ninth in the NHL.
Gordon, a first-round pick of the Capitals in 2002, has 15 goals and 37 assists in 204 career games with Washington.
